Born: Muncie, Indiana (born and raised)
Age started learning Horn: 11 years old
Degrees: Bachelor’s in Music Performance, Ball State University (2021). Master’s in Music Performance, Florida State University (2023)
Symphonic experience Cory brings to SWFSO:
“I have played as a substitute in the following groups: Orchestra Indiana (formerly the Muncie Symphony Orchestra), the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra, the Panama City Symphony Orchestra, the Valdosta Symphony Orchestra”
Music Festivals Cory has been a part of:
“The past two summers I have been an apprentice at the National Music Festival in Chestertown, Maryland”
Teaching Experience: “I teach a variable amount of middle and high school students through section coachings and private lessons.”
Special music awards, scholarships, or accomplishments Cory has earned?
“I once competed in a horn quartet at the 51st annual international horn symposium in Ghent Belgium, and this past summer I went on a tour in Costa Rica with the Capital City Brass Quintet as part of the “‘Noles Onstage” program through FSU.”
Something you may not know about Cory: “ I am a cat lover, I have one gray tabby back home in Tallahassee. I also moonlight as a bassist…. [about my audition] I was actually dreading my audition with the SWFLSO! It was in the midst of the final semester of my Master’s, and on my drive to Fort Myers I felt that I had too much on my plate and had no chances of getting a job… my only plan was to do my absolute best!
This will be Cory's first season SWFSO! We look forward to having him on stage with us!
